Sir Louis Kershaw was brought from Allahabad as Chief Justice on Sir Farran's sudden death in 1898. Kershaw and Sir John Beaumont were the only Queen's or King's Counsel to serve as Judges in Bombay. Kershaw was a sickly man, and died within three or four months.
