| His Lordship was born on November 10. 1943. Passed S.S.C. Examination in 1960 . Obtained B.A. (Hons.) degree in Economics and Political Science from Bahauddin College, Junagadh in 1964. Passed LL.B. Examination from M.P. Shah Law College, Jamnagar in 1967. Took LL.M. degree in Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and Jurisprudence from GujaratUniversity in 1970. Enrolled as Advocate on February 28, 1968. Started practice in the High Court of Gujarat. Rendered services as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor from December, 1975 to 1982. Appeared in a number of Civil, Criminal and Constitutional matters. Offered services as part time Lecturer in Law in Sir L.A. Shah Law College, Ahmedabad for about 20 years. Written books "Lectures on Administrative Law", "Civil Procedure" and "Criminal Procedure" which have been appreciated in India as well as in U.S.A. Also revised V. G. Ramchandran's monumental work "Law of Writs" (1993) and Ratanlal and Dhirajlal's "Law of Crimes" (2002) (Silver Jubilee Edition). Was Secretary of Gujarat High Court Advocates Association in 1982. Was sponsored as a delegate by the Bar Council of Gujarat to the Constitutional Workshop held by the Bar Council of India at Bhuvaneshwar. Is also interested in 'LOK ADALAT' Movement.Was elevated to the Bench of High Court of Gujarat on June 21, 1990. Assumed the Office of Chief Justice of High Court of Himachal Pradesh on 5th May, 2000. His Lordship was transferred and took oath as the Chief Justice of High Court of Bombay on 31st December, 2001. | |
