Honourable Shri. Justice Manharlal Bhikhalal Shah was appointed as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court on 2nd August 1995 .His Lordship was born on 25th September 1938 at Dehgam in Ahmedabad District. After passing SSC Examination in 1953, His Lordship joined L.D. Arts College, Ahmedabad, and graduated in Economics in April, 1958. Passed M.Com.(Statistics) in 1962 and simultaneously passed his 2nd LL.B. Examination in 1962 from Sir L.A. Shah Law College, Ahmedabad. His Lordship started practice in 1963 at the Gujarat High Court and joined the Chambers of Shri S.M.Patel, who was later on elevated to the Bench of the Gujarat High Court. His Lordship joined as Lecturer in Motilal Nehru Law College in September 1971 and soon acquired vast and varied practice, mainly in Constitutional, Civil and Criminal matters. His Lordship was appointed as Assistant Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor in November 1971. His Lordship was appointed Additional Judge in the Gujarat High Court on 28th January 1983 and permanent Judge from 6th May 1983. His Lordship was appointed Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court from 2nd August 1995 and was elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of India, on 9th December 1998 .
