Had his school education from Antonio D' souza High School, Mumbai. Graduated in Arts faculty with Honours in Political Science and Constitutional History from St. Xaviers College, Mumbai. Did his Law graduation in 1980 from Government Law College, Mumbai.

During college days participated in cultural and social activities. Was a member of various committees of the college and participated in various sport events in college life.

Though born in a family having a rich tradition of its members being in Defence and Police forces, he was keen to pursue career as a lawyer. After a short stint with a labour consultant, enrolled himself with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa on 12th October 1983 and joined the chamber of Shri C.J. Sawant, Senior Advocate and Ex-Advocate General of Maharashtra. Got a vast experience in constitutional and civil matters, as an associate of the said chamber.

Was the Secretary of the Advocates Association of India (AAWI) between the years 1995-1999. AAWI is a premier Bar Association of lawyers in Mumbai having three thousand lawyers on it's role.

Was a Standing Counsel for various Government of Maharashtra undertakings such as CIDCO, MMRDA, MSRDC and Maharashtra Labour Welfare Board. Was also a panel counsel for two Municipal Corporations and one Municipal Council in the High Court. Represented said public bodies for about 10-15 years in the Bombay High Court.

Was appointed as a Government Pleader, High Court, Original Side, Mumbai in December 1999 and continued as such till his elevation as a Judge of the Bombay High Court.

As a Government Pleader represented the Government of Maharashtra in various suits, land references, sales tax references, arbitration petitions, writ petitions civil appeals and public interest litigation touching the subjects like constitutional provisions, town planning environment, forests, contracts, service regulations, municipal laws, criminal laws. Some of the landmark cases handled by him are, protection of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park Borivali, Project of Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Project of Worli-Bandra-Nariman Point Sea Link, Levy of toll vehicles coming into Mumbai, upgradation of railway services in Mumbai.

Sworn as a Judge of the Bombay High Court on 8th September 2006.
