JUSTICE PRITHVIRAJ KESHAVRAO CHAVANB.Sc., LL.B. 2017-2025 Born on 22nd February, 1963. Completed schooling at various places as father was Doctor in Central Railway. Did B.Sc. (Zoology) from Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 1983. Worked as Development officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India. Obtained LL.B. Degree from Nagpur University in the year 1987 and started Practice in the office of late Hon'ble Shri Justice B.U.Wahane in the High Court of Judicature Bombay, Bench at Nagpur as well as in the District Court, Nagpur from 1987 till 1989. Appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutor, Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, Sub Registrar at the Union Territory of Diu in 1989. Appointed as Civil Judge, Jr. Dn. & JMFC in June 1992 and posted at Yavatmal. Promoted in the cadre of District Judge, Amravati in the month of March 2002. Worked as Additional District and Sessions Judge at Amaravati, Bhandara, Gangakhed and Basmat Distt Parbhani. Worked as Member, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Bombay from June 2008 to September 2009. Appointed as Registrar Vigilance, (Finance & Budget), Protocol in the High Court, Bombay, from 2009 to 2012. Was a Judge of City Civil and Sessions Court, Bombay From 1st March, 2012 to February 2014. Dealt with several matters as a Special Judge under MCOCA, POTA and NIA. Delivered a judgment as a Special Judge under the National Investigation Agency Act wherein the accused were convicted for having found in possession of Fake Indian Currency Notes manufactured in the neighbouring country. Appointed as Chief Judge, Small Causes Court, Bombay, from February 2014 to February 2016. Transferred to Amravati as Principal District & Sessions Judge with effect from 7.3.2016. Transferred to Pune as Principal District and Sessions Judge in the month of September 2016. Delivered Lecture on evidentiary value of Forensic Science, Medical evidence and role of Experts in Indian Law at Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai. Attended and participated in the International Conference of Forensic Nano Technology held at Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, Gujrat on 25.3.2011. Appointed as a Member for the Board of Studies for Forensic Science at University of Mumbai. Keenly interested in Forensic Criminology. During college days, participated in cultural and social activities. Has Been awarded with Black Belt (One Dan) in karate from Shyorin Ryu - Japan. Keenly interested in mouth organ and violin. Elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay on 5th June, 2017. |
