Mr. Justice H.J. Parsons, I.C.S., Bar-at-Law : Mr. Justice Henry Parsons was a very sound, independent and clear-headed Judge. He was among the few I.C.S. judges who earned the affection and confidence of the public and of the profession by his independence, the fairness of his judgments, and his sympathetic attitude towards Indians. His judgments were invariably short and to the point, entirely free from verbiage or pedantry of any sort. It is said that the longest judgment he gave covered only 7 and half pages of the Law Report. On the sudden death of Chief Justice Kershaw, he was appointed he was appointed acting Chief Justice. He acquitted himself so creditably that various public bodies sent memorials to Government to appoint him permanent Chief Justice.
