KUM. NUTAN D. SARDESSAI




B.Sc.(Hons), LL.M. 2016-2020

Ms. Nutan D. Sardessai born on 19th August, 1958 at Ponda - Goa and is a B.Sc. (Hons.) and L.L.M. Postgraduate from the University of Poona. She has taken to the legal profession and started her legal practice in 1983. She joined the Goa Judiciary on 18/10/1991 as a Civil Judge, Junior Division & J.M.F.C. at Bicholim and was then transferred in the same post at Panaji and thereafter at Quepem i.e. as the Civil Judge, Junior Division and J.M.F.C. She had attended the Training for Judicial Officers at JOTI Nagpur for 10 weeks w.e.f. 10.6.1994 to 20.8.1994. She was promoted as the Senior Civil Judge in December, 1996, and was promoted to the post of the Additional District & Sessions Judge w.e.f. 23/01/1998. She worked as a Special Judge, N.D.P.S. Court for Goa at Mapusa from 11/06/2001 to 15/05/2006. She had attended a 2 days Seminar on Gender and Law organized by the British Council in coordination with Goa State Legal Services Authority at Panaji in December 2001 and an Induction Training in Arbitration, Conciliation and Mediation in 2002. She was the only Judge from Goa Judiciary deputed to the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal for the inaugural programme between 5th September 2002 to 9th September 2002 and for the advanced course on Gender and Law. She thereafter attended the Training Module for Additional District Judges again at JOTI, Nagpur from 31.3.2003 to 3.5.2003. She had thereafter on 2 successive occasions attended programmes on Environmental Law and Criminal Justice System, Penology and Victimology in 2004 and 2006 at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal.

She was transferred as then Additional District & Sessions Judge to Margao, South Goa. She was designated as the Principal District & Sessions Judge, South Goa at Margao w.e.f. 07/04/2007 as also the Special Judge for cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and under the Prevention of Atrocities (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Act. She has also attended a one day Seminar on Right to Education for children at Delhi under the auspices of NALSA at Delhi in May 2009. She was transferred to the same post at Panaji w.e.f. 11/08/2009. She was transferred back to the District Court, Margao since 04/06/2012 to 27/03/2016. Elevated as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 28.03.2016.
