Oil paintings of the retired judges
of Bombay High Court are spread in various court rooms in the High
Court building. The High Court had original criminal jurisduction to
decide criminal cases and for lesser offences there were Magistrates'
Courts. When the High Court Judge sat in Session's Court to hear
criminal cases, he used to wear red dress. The Original criminal
jurisdiction of the High Court was discontinued after establishment of
Bombay City Civil & Sessions Court & High Court became Criminal
Appellate Court.
