He was born on 31 October 1875 at
Nadiad, Kheda District of Gujarat to Zaverbhai and Ladbai. He had
his early education in Nadiad and Baroda. He then proceeded to
London and enrolled at the Middle Temple. He was called to the
Bar on 27 January 1913. After he returned to India, he applied
to Bombay High Court on 14 February 1913 and his application was
favourably considered by the Judges on 15 February 1913 and was
enrolled as Advocate. He however did not practice in Bombay but
was a successful Advocate at Borsad. He entered active politics
in 1917 and was one of the leading freedom fighter and was solely
responsible for integration native states into Union of India. He
was the Home Minister of Independent India. He died on 15
December 1950.
