JUSTICE V. M. DESHPANDEJUSTICE V. M. DESHPANDE
B.Com., LLB.

Born on 19th May 1960 at Warud, District Amravati, in a lawyer family. Grandfather, Late Shrirampant and father, Late Manoharpant were renowned lawyers of Paratwada, District Amravati, Western Part of Vidarbha. After Late Manoharpant joined judiciary, moved with him at various places. Matriculated from 'Aided School', Buldhana in the year 1975. Acquired Bachelor's Degree of Commerce from Hislop College, Nagpur in the year 1980. Honoured with 'Bachelor of Laws' degree from the erstwhile University College of Law, Nagpur i.e. today's Dr. Ambedkar University College of Law, Nagpur, in the year 1983. Joined office of leading lawyer of that time; Advocate V. C. Daga. Has conducted cases on Civil and Constitutional side. Joined office of Government Pleader of High Court as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor in the year 1991. Worked in that capacity till the year 2000, conducted various Civil, Criminal and Constitutional matters. Selected as Additional District Judge by the Full Court and posted at Amravati on 5th October 2000. However, due to family priorities resigned from the post on 16th August 2001.

Again started practice at High Court and conducted various criminal appeals, death confirmation cases and election petitions. Was Special Counsel for State of Maharashtra and also for His Excellency the Governor of Maharashtra in educational matters. Was a Standing Counsel for Nagpur Municipal Corporation, erstwhile Maharashtra State Electricity Board and was Special Counsel of Forest Department.

Elevated as Judge of the esteemed Bombay High Court on 06.01.2014.
