Born on 7th April 1957. Alumnus of Government Law College, Mumbai. Graduated in Law in the year 1979 from Bombay University.
After enrolment with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa, initially started practice in the chamber of father & renowned criminal lawyer Shri Harishchandra V. Patil. Thereafter, practiced in the High Court of Bombay, Aurangabad Bench since its establishment on Constitutional, Civil and Criminal Sides.
Was appointed Additional Standing Counsel for Union of India.
Was Counsel for various Statutory and Local Bodies and Maharashtra State Election Commission in the High Court.
Elevated as Additional Judge of Bombay High Court on 12th October 2001 and appointed as permanent Judge on 3rd October 2004.
Was associated with mediation movement as Chairman of the Main Mediation Committee of the High Court of Bombay.
Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on 13th August 2018.
Appointed as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on 29th October, 2018.
Patron-in-Chief of the Maharashtra & Goa Legal Services Authority and the Maharashtra Judicial Academy.
