Born on 11th November 1959. Graduated from St. Stephen's
College, Delhi in 1979. Completed LL.B from Delhi University in 1982 and
LL.M. from Harvard University in 1983. Doctor of Juridicial Sciences
(S.J.D.) Harvard in 1986. Appointed as Additional Solicitor General of
India (1998-2000). Designate as Senior Advocate in 1998. Appeared in
several important cases involving Public Interest Litigation, Rights of
Bonded Women Workers, Rigts of HIV Positive Workers in the Work place,
Contract Labour and the Rights of Religious and Linguistic Minorities.
Was appointed by the Supreme Court to submit a report on the state of
Bombay Beaches. Taught International Law at Oklahoma University, U.S.A,
1983. Visiting Professor, Comparitive Constitutional Law, University of
Bombay 1988-1997. Paper setter and Chairman of the Board of Examiners
for LL.M. Examination. Appeared on behalf of several public bodies
including the Reserve Bank of India, Port Trusts, Municipal
Corporations and Universities. Appointed as Additional Judge of the
High Court at Bombay on 29th March 2000.
