Library Digitization Project

There are two digitization projects going on in the Bombay High Court.

The first is undertaken by the information Technology Department, the scanning of the judgements and documents from recent past which are not bound are being scanned using ADF scanner.

The second digitization project is undertaken by the Judges' Library which includes scanning of original judgments, Judgments from the old law reports like the Bombay High Court Reports, Bombay Law Reporter, ILR Bombay, Legislation from the Bombay Acts, Maharashtra Acts and State Gazettes and any other documents of historical importance.

The scanning the original judgments and old law reports from the year 1862 has been started.  The papers of these judgments are more then hundred years old and are delicate.  Since Flat bed and ADF scanner cannot be used for scanning these declicate documents.  The Judges' Library has procured "Bookeye 4" publication scanner.  The publication scanner is an overhead scanner and book is placed underneath the scanner, the pages are scanned from above without damaging the document.

The aim is to build an E- Repository to preserve our judgments and historical documents to facilitate the access of information to the legal scholars and researchers.
